Jimi Hendrix continues to receive considerable interest in the Media with
three simultaenous appearances on music magazines this month. First, the
April 2007 edition of Guitar Techniques (UK) features Jimi Hendrix
on the cover of the magazine and a multi-page feature focusing on how fans
can "sound like the greatest guitarist of all time." The magazine also
includes a cover-mounted CD featuring music accompaniaments for guitarists.
Also this month, Guitar Player (US) celebrates its 40th Anniversary
with a special ode to the music that was popular in the Summer of 1967. The
cover features a green and purple toned image of Jimi Hendrix performing on
stage at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco from 1967 plus tributes to Hendrix
and The Experiences' debut release Are You Experienced that the magazine
calls "all killer, no filler!" We heartily agree.
And finally, Total Guitar (UK) celebrates the 100 Greatest Riffs of
all-time with their multi-page spread. While Jimi does not top this chart
this time 'round; he does land on the list four times with "Purple Haze"
(#20), "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" (#27), "Little Wing" (#60), and
"Foxey Lady" (#87).
