Released on the heels of the October 1968 release of ELECTRIC LADYLAND, ELECTRIC JIMI HENDRIX was a single-LP, "teaser" featuring nine of the sixteen cuts from Electric LADYLAND. Produced by Hendrix's British record company, Track Records (2856 002), ELECTRIC JIMI HENDRIX was intended for release solely to record clubs within the UK; however, several copies were also shipped to the Scandinavian region of western Europe prior to being pulled from the market within a couple of weeks of its original release.
Because of the limited nature of this item (some reports indicate that as few as 2,000 copies actually made it to the public), regardless of the initial availability, because of the sheer difficulty in finding this release, it is estimated that fewer than a few hundred copies exist today.
As a result, this title has been known to change hands at auction at prices upwards of $2,000 for high-grade copies.
