Welcome to the Spring 2002 edition of Experience Hendrix. This issue marks our return to our quarterly distribution pattern that are sure to keep you up to date in the world of Jimi Hendrix.
This issue is devoted to the evolutionary (and sometimes revolutionary) changes that Hendrix made with his music. While it is often said that's Hendrix's most evolutionary stage was in the Summer of '69, we can trace several changes throughout his career that all lead up to the demise of the original Experience, the creation of the Band Of Gypsys, and ultimately a return to The Experience.
This issue looks at some of the major events of '67 including the unlikely pairing of The Experience and The Monkees and a major tour of the UK featuring supporting acts like The Move and Pink Floyd. Jump ahead to '68 and we find Hendrix exploring new sounds in music--particularly Jazz--and in the following year, Hendrix announces even more changes and eludes to the formation of his "Sky Church" / "Electric Church" ensembles in a very revealing, May '69 interview.
While many of Hendrix's changes involved personnel changes at one point or another, it is also important to look at the musical changes Hendrix made and some of the tools (effects pedals) that he used when crafting these new sounds. In looking at some of Hendrix's original effects pedals, Experience Hendrix has also announced a venture supporting Line 6's revolutionary new teaching tool -- the GuitarPort -- which is set to debut in late January.
We hope you enjoy these and other features, interviews, and special announcements in this edition of Experience Hendrix: The Official Online Jimi Hendrix Magazine.
Stay Experienced,
